  • Why?
  • At UPC Business we understand that running a company is something more than just a simple calculation of profits and losses. The additional criteria for success includes motivation and passion for work in balance with the fulfillment of personal needs.
 
  • What?
  • Think Big is one of the few competitions in Poland which is addressed to companies which are already operating on the market and have a specific plan for further development.
  • Think Big is a competition dedicated to all entrepreneurs with passion and ideas, who want to develop their business through technological innovations and solutions.
  • Show us that you can and want to think ‘big’ – in many dimensions, innovatively, globally, courageously and with flare and that at the same time you know and value the creative role of time spent behind the desk.
 
  • When?
  • The first edition of the competition was launched in October 2013 – it was open to all entrepreneurs running small companies who decided to cross accepted schemes with breakthrough, innovative ideas for the development of their activities.
  • This year  he competition is for all those who conduct business activities for at least one year and who will share their ideas for the development of their business with us. The main prize is PLN 40 000 and two prizes PLN 20 000 each.
 
  • How?
  • Take part in the rivalry for new development conditions and business and financial support for your company.
  • It is enough to send us an application containing  a short description of up to date activities together with a specific plan for development and justification why you should be awarded. The application form is available on-line at http://thinkbig2015.upc.pl/ii-edycja/en/
  • You may submit your idea in one of the 3 categories:  Digital & Mobility, Upgrade your lifestyle or Creative  minds.
  • We are launching the 1st stage of the competition already on 9 September.
  • You have time to fill out the form until 7 November.[i]

  • Łukasz Wejchert

    Founder of Dirlango company

    Founder of Dirlango company, the activities of which are centered on providing solutions using the potential of mobile Internet and new technologies. Its portfolio includes: application Justtag aggregating loyalty cards and discount coupons, Justtag WiFi – Wi-Fi platform integrated with social media, iTaxi – the first Polish application to order cabs, as well as Virgin Mobile Polska. In June 2014 Dirlango became the owner of the LeadR direct marketing agency. Since February 2014 Lukasz Wejchert holds the position of Member of the Supervisory Broad Wirtualna Group. Earlier for years he was Chairman of the Board of Onet Group. Until 2011 he was also with TVN TV and held the position of Vice President of the Board for Online at TVN TV station.


  • Agnieszka Zawistowska

    Director UPC Business

    Director UPC Business, organizer of the Think Big competition for small companies with global ambitions. Agnieszka implements UPC’s strategy of selling services to small companies (SOHO), development of SME and wholesales segments. She gained her 15 year experience in a number of B2B segments, from marketing and distribution to telecommunications. In her professional work, Agnieszka focuses on unconventional ideas and solutions which can increase the digital potential of Polish companies.


  • Andrzej Pągowski

    Icon of the Polish poster art, creator of the artistic concept of the II edition of the Think Big competition.

    He learned from the master himself - professor Waldemar Świerzy. He is the author of more than 1200 posters printed since 1977 in Poland and abroad, including posters to films directed by, among others, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Agnieszka Holland and Roman Polański. Winner of numerous, prestigious awards such as the International Film Poster Competition in Chicago or International Competition for The Best TV and Film Poster in Los Angeles. In 1989 he became involved in the advertising business, without giving up his individual development as a graphic designer. At present he is creative director and owner of the KreacjaPro company.


  • Arkadiusz Bąk

    Under secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy

    Graduate of the Electronic Department, Military Technical Academy in Warsaw, continued his education at the Electronic and IT Department, Warsaw Polytechnics and the Economics Department at the Higher School of Economy and Law in Kielce. At the Ministry of Economy, Arkadius Bak is responsible among others, for issues related to e-economy such as the development of e-services, digital competencies and e-signature.


  • Ramiro Lafarga Brollo

    Managing Director at UPC Polska

    Since 2011 Managing Director of the 02 Slovakia mobile operator, he considerably developed the company over the years, focusing on the quality of customer service. Previously he held a number of managerial positions in the Telefonica Group, including as Sales Director, Telefonica Chille and Telefonica Sao Paolu (Brasil), as well as Sales and Customer Service Director, Movister Chile.


  • Roman Młodkowski

    Independent Consultant, Manager, Economic Journalist

    Manager in the media branch and economic journalist. Creator, editor and chief and Director TVN CNBC (2007 - 2013), earlier editor in chief of the Business section in TVN24 (2011 - 2007). Winner of numerous awards, including Kisiel, Fikus and Grand Press (2006). Graduate of Advanced Management Program IESE Business School and political sciences, Warsaw University. Author of a number of awarded TV formats, including the popular Company magazine.


  • Patrycja Gołos

    Policy and Corporate Affairs Director at UPC Polska

    Is a member of the management of UPC Polska responsible for corporate activities, public policy and regulations. She has a 15year experience on the media and telecommunication markets. For years involved in activities towards digital inclusion, promotion of digital competencies, entrepreneurship and competitive economy. Patrycja Gołos is Vice President of the Polish Electronic Communication Chamber (PIKE). She represents the interests of the cable industry in contacts with state administration, regulators, media and the remaining stakeholders involved in the development of digitalization in Poland.


  • Ryszard Petru

    President of the Association of Polish Economists (TEP).

    President of the Association of Polish Economists (TEP).  In 2013, he became an economic affairs advisor to the Speaker of the Lower Silesia region in southwestern Poland. In 2014 he was appointed the head of the Supervisory Board at Solaris Bus & Coach. Frequently publishes on Eurozone as well as banking crisis and general macro. Recently was a partner at PwC. Between 1997 and 2000 he was an advisor to Leszek Balcerowicz, former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister. Between 2001 and 2004 he worked as an economist at the World Bank, covering Poland and Hungary. He dealt with the public finance reform, regional policy as well as investment climate. Later, until 2008 he held the office of Chief Economist at a Polish lender Bank BPH, moving on to take executive posts at BRE Bank and PKO BP. Graduate from Warsaw School of Economics (SGH). Frequently interviewed by Polish and international media.


  • Bartłomiej Gola

    Chairman Speed-up venture capital group, an Entrepreneur and Innovator

    Graduate of the Economic Academy, Poznan. Following his studies, he began working in the marketing industry. He moved through all levels to become managing partner at the BTL Group (shareholder and co-founder) and TEQUILA Polska. He was the creator, Chairman of the Board of the first Polish advertising holding INDIGITY SA. He is the author of more than a dozen scientific publications on marketing and business strategies. Chairman of the Direct Marketing Association for a number of years.


  • Olga Kozierowska

    Initiator of promoting women’s entrepreneurship, creator of the project “Success written in lipstick”

    Olga Kozierowska has many years experience gained on European markets in the central and south-eastern region. She worked, among others, for GeoPost Group, Unilever Polska, Welbilt UK and KLM. In 2008 she established her own company – Success written in lipstick. Its mission is to inspire women to courageous business activities, provide support and to promote their activities and to show that the impossible is possible. Success written in lipstick is the first such organization in Poland.


  • Grzegorz Kiszluk

    Chief editor of “Brief” magazine

    One of the pioneers of advertising business in Poland. Had been working in international advertising agencies from the beginning of free market in this country. From 1991 to 1996 worked as the media department director in Publicis FCB and general director in Optimedia Poland (1994-1996). From 1996 to 1998 a member of board Press Distribution Monitoring Association and then the first president of supervisory board of Polish Readership Research Association. Since 1993 a member of International Advertising Association in Poland, from 1999 to 2005 in the IAA authorities. Since 1999 owner of AdPress publishing house end editor in chief of “Brief” – the first in Poland marketing and sells magazine.


  • Artur Kurasiński

    Bloger, Entrepreneur, Founder& President of GetFokus.com

    Businessman focused on supporting and investing in technological Project in their early stage of development. Mentor, blogger and active branch commentator . Co-author a the series of meetings Polish Hall promoting technological entrepreneurship and the Aulery prize.


  • Sander Vonk

    Director of Liberty Global Ventures

    Sander is responsible for the EMEA region at Liberty Global Ventures. Liberty Global Ventures is a global investment fund owned by Liberty Global, the largest cable company in the world and one of the fastest growing in the world, with market-leading operations across 14 countries. Liberty Global Ventures has unique access to investment opportunities throughout Liberty Global’s footprint and the ability to leverage operating resources within every aspect of the investment life cycle. Sander has spent the last 12 years at LGI in different business development and strategic roles.


  • Dariusz Żuk

    The CEO and co-creator of the AIP group

    Polish businessman who has the first system strategy of supporting entrepreneurship – „Path to Polish Entrepreneurship” aimed at achieving by Poland the leading position in the area of startups and creating three Polish companies on the scale of Skype or Google. The CEO and co-creator of the AIP group of products conducting the strategy of Polish entrepreneurship. The group of institutions consists of such organizations as Academic Incubators of Entrepreneurship (the biggest AIP network in Europe, 1500 startups), AIP Speed Capital (43 investments), and AIP Business Link (the network of the best global 10 accelerators for startups). Founder of the Student BCC Forum. Winner if the special Business Centre Club award. At present the Mister of Entrepreneurship in the BCC Shadow Cabinet. Honored by the President of Poland with the Golden Cross for creating and promoting entrepreneurship.


  • Michel Pilet

    Director B2B Marketing and Communications at Liberty Global

    Michel is B2B Director for Marketing and Communication, Liberty Global. As a passionate of entrepreneurship, he frequently participates in business events as mentor. He grew up in a family who ran their business and experienced the ups and downs related to conducting business. He is a fan of digital technologies and ways which they lower the barriers of market entrance for new businesses. He is convinced that in time these technologies will fundamentally change the structure of the whole economy.


  • Paweł Zielewski

    Editor and writer in the Polish edition of Forbes and "First Million"

    Editor and writer in the Polish edition of Forbes magazine and lead editor of the magazine for businessmen – „First Million”. Two years ago he was also the editor in chief of the Internet forbes.pl service. With Forbes for the past 8 years. Ealier he worked, among others, as journalist and editor at Puls Biznesu, Gazeta Wyborczaor Zycie Gospodarcze. He specializes in financial, banking topics and support of entrepreneurship.


  • Christopher B. Coles

    Managing Director for Business Markets at Liberty Global

    Chris has spent his career in a wide array of roles in the network services industry. His experience ranges from startups to multi national corporations, across voice/data/video, and in both service providers as well as technology vendors. He is presently the Managing Director for Business Markets at Liberty Global. In this role, he provides leadership on strategy, analysis, M&A, product management and operational excellence to 12 operating companies in 12 different countries of Europe. Prior to Liberty Global, he was President and CEO of HyperQuality, a venture capital-backed startup focused on customer contact analytics, where he led the company to profitability over a four year period and a subsequent sale of the company. Chris has worked extensively in global markets in his roles with HyperQuality, Myrio, Siemens and Cisco. These global assignments included sales, marketing, business development, outsourcing, finance and software development activities in Europe, India and the Far East. Chris graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Colorado College. He went on to complete his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Denver; also graduating with honors and an emphasis in Finance.


  • Bożena Lublińska-Kasprzak

    Chairperson of the Polish Agency for the Development of Entrepreneurship

    Graduate of the Lublin University Economic Department, also completed post graduate studies on European integration, Warsaw University. She is in the process of working on the doctorate thesis at the Economic University Krakow at the Finance Department. Former expert of the Parliamentary Team for the Absorption if EU Funds and international advisory projects. Author of publications on the use of EU funds. From 2009 she has been chairing the chapter of the competition Polish Product of the Future. From 2010 she is member of the board of the European Network of Innovation Agencies (TAFTIE). In 2014 she became the Chairperson of TAFTIE.
